Senior Linux engineering · Across Europe

Linux systems you can rely on.

We solve difficult Linux problems and build the conditions that keep critical systems stable, efficient, and under control.

Datalay brings senior Linux expertise to your organisation in the form that fits it best. We can strengthen or train your team, take responsibility for a defined part of the platform, deliver a specific project, or operate the whole infrastructure. We shape the work with you rather than forcing it into a fixed service package.

Reliable systems are built before the incident.

Good infrastructure work is not measured by how often a support team comes to the rescue. It is measured by how rarely avoidable incidents happen in the first place.

That means understanding what the systems do, removing recurring causes of failure, planning capacity before resources run short, keeping software and configuration under control, and making recovery a tested procedure rather than an assumption. It also means leaving the people responsible for those systems with better knowledge and better tools than they had before.

The result is infrastructure that becomes quieter: fewer surprises, fewer repeated problems, clearer decisions, and more time for your team to focus on the work that matters to the business.

Bring us the problem, not a predefined service.

You may have a production issue nobody has been able to explain. A group of Linux servers may have grown without enough documentation or consistent management. Capacity may be approaching its limit. A key engineer may be leaving, or your development team may need systems expertise that does not make sense to hire full-time.

You may also be looking further ahead: improving resilience, preparing for growth, reviewing security, making recovery dependable, or giving your own team the knowledge and practices to operate more confidently.

Start with the situation as you see it. We will help define the technical work, the responsibility each side should hold, and a way of collaborating that is useful to both teams.

How we work

The right level of responsibility for your organisation.

There is no required journey and no standard package. An engagement can be small and specific, broad and long-term, or change shape as the organisation changes.

01 Solve a difficult problem

We investigate faults, instability, performance bottlenecks, failed changes, network behaviour, or infrastructure that has become too risky to touch. The goal is not a temporary workaround. We establish what is happening, correct the underlying cause where possible, and leave a clear record of the decisions and changes.

02 Improve an existing platform

We bring inherited or fast-growing systems under control: standardising configuration, improving monitoring, reviewing access, planning capacity, testing recovery, and automating work that should not depend on manual repetition.

03 Strengthen your team

We work as part of your existing technical operation, inside its tools and processes. We can provide senior judgement, share responsibility for particular systems, review plans, support difficult changes, or train colleagues so that more knowledge remains inside the organisation.

04 Take responsibility for the infrastructure

Where that is the right model, we can operate the Linux infrastructure on an ongoing basis: maintaining context, planning and carrying out changes, monitoring health and capacity, and improving the systems over time. The scope is agreed around what the business actually needs.

What sits behind reliable Linux systems

Systems, networks, security, and resilience.

Linux systems and virtualisation

Provisioning, operating system lifecycle, configuration, identity, storage, virtual machines, hypervisors, performance, and capacity. We work with the platform you already depend on and improve it where improvement has a clear purpose.

Networks and secure access

Firewalls, segmentation, routing, VPNs, reverse proxies, TLS, and the paths between users, services, sites, and providers. Designed to remain understandable as well as secure.

Operational resilience

Monitoring, patching, backups, restore testing, continuity planning, and recovery. The disciplines that make failures less likely and reduce their impact when they do happen.

Security and control

Hardening, access boundaries, audit remediation, vulnerability response, and configuration management. Security treated as part of daily infrastructure operation, not a product applied once and forgotten.

Automation and documentation

Repeatable configuration, reviewable changes, useful operating procedures, and knowledge that belongs to your organisation. Automation makes routine work consistent; documentation makes responsibility transferable.

Private AI · Operational intelligence · Secure integration

Bring AI into your organisation—not your knowledge out of it.

Adopting AI does not require handing your organisation's knowledge to a public AI service. Datalay designs private AI environments around your security requirements, your systems, and the way your people actually work.

This is not a generic chatbot installed beside the business. We design the complete environment: the Linux infrastructure it runs on, the knowledge it is allowed to use, the services it needs to reach, the actions it may take, and the operational controls that keep the whole system useful and accountable.

The right architecture starts with understanding the organisation. We assess what you already have, explain how far it can take you, and identify what should be added or changed to reach the level of capability, confidentiality, and control you need.

Explore private AI and secure integration

Private AI and organisational knowledge

Turn scattered documentation, procedures, runbooks, and operational experience into guidance your team can find and use. Different roles can work with the knowledge relevant to them while access and confidentiality remain deliberate.

Operational intelligence

Monitoring becomes valuable when signals are interpreted together, unnecessary noise is removed, and the right information reaches the right people in time to act. Private AI can add correlation, summarisation, and trend detection without replacing sound monitoring or human judgement.

Secure integration

Connect established systems to modern automation and AI workflows without rebuilding everything that already works. Depending on the environment, that may involve existing APIs, purpose-built adapters, protocol gateways, or controlled MCP interfaces.

Senior judgement, close to the work.

Linux specialists

Linux is not one item in a general IT catalogue. It is the centre of our work and has been throughout more than two decades of continuous practice.

Direct technical contact

The people in the conversation understand the systems and take part in the work. There is no call-centre layer between your team and the engineer responsible for an outcome.

Part of your operation, on your terms

We can advise, teach, share responsibility, or take it on. We work in your repositories, ticketing systems, communication channels, and approved access methods, adapting to the organisation rather than making the organisation adapt to us.

Independent recommendations

We do not arrive with a proprietary platform, a licence target, or a migration to sell. Recommendations are based on what will make your systems more reliable, understandable, secure, and economical to operate.

Knowledge that stays with you

Changes, decisions, and operating knowledge are documented. Training and handover are valid outcomes, not threats to the relationship. A client should be stronger for having worked with us, not more dependent.

Company

Linux infrastructure work since 2003.

2003 Continuous Linux practice

Datalay is a Spanish infrastructure company working remotely with organisations in Spain and across Europe. We collaborate in English and Spanish during European business hours. Defined response times and out-of-hours coverage can be arranged where required.

Over more than twenty years, platforms and tooling have changed repeatedly. The fundamentals have not: understand the system, simplify where possible, plan for change, control what repeats, and take responsibility for the result.

A good fit, stated clearly.

A strong fit

Companies whose Linux systems matter to their operation and that value senior judgement, direct communication, sound documentation, and preventive engineering. You may have an internal technical team, need us to operate independently, or want a combination of the two.

Not our model

Our focus is the infrastructure underneath services and applications. General office IT, desktop support, printers, and regular on-site attendance are not our working model. If the concern is Linux systems, the networks around them, or their reliability and security, we should talk.

Tell us what needs to work better.

Describe the problem, the infrastructure involved, or the responsibility you need help with. A few sentences are enough. We will help turn that starting point into a sensible technical and working arrangement.
